1992
Established in 1992 by Michael Cole, an experienced lighting components professional, the business initially operated out of a small, rented office in Hayes. Focusing on four key European suppliers, we sold our component ranges to lighting manufacturers and we’re incredibly proud to say we’re still working with these suppliers today.
1994
Over time, we were in a position to diversify as we acquired other businesses. Catering and Appliances was our first market. We sold components into domestic appliance manufacturers and items outside of traditional lighting. Shortly after we acquired Arlen EFA who had been our biggest competitor, which enabled us to broaden and deepen our product range and customer base.
1999
Prime Light acquire Walter Logan. A well respected company focusing on wire suspension systems for concert rigging, lighting and signage. Amongst their partners were PFLITSCH, one of the world leaders in the manufacturing of high-end cable glands for the rail , specialised machinery and sectors requiring professional cable glands and trunking systems.
2005
These acquisitions began to enable us to diversify our portfolio and work closely with customers in their respective markets. We pride ourselves on being a leading distributor in the lighting sector, with around 95% of lighting manufacturers purchasing at least one component from us; maintaining these relationships remains a key priority.
2010
Developing into a one-stop-shop for manufacturers, contractors, wholesalers and retailers. An exclusive distributor for some of the world’s leading manufacturers of electronic and electrical lighting components, our partners are carefully selected to ensure quality, reliability and value. Our experienced technical team also enables us to provide innovative lighting component support for some of the biggest names in sport, retail and defence.
2018
We received an investment from Bay Tree that will allow us to accelerate our exciting growth strategy. The management team were delighted to be backed by an equity provider who quickly understood the opportunity to establish Prime Light in dynamic new markets such as smart lighting.
